This policy outlines the methods Rise use to collect, share and protect any personally identifiable information in offline and online settings. This website, vietnamrise.org, follows this policy and applicable laws in the country where it is stored, the United States.
PRACTICING RESPONSIBLE DATA
As a distributed organization, we use a variety of services and tools to keep our virtual doors open. Rise use responsible data principles when considering the privacy, security and ethical implications of working with data. We take great consideration into the ways we are collecting, managing, using and deleting data. These additional guidelines govern how we work with data.
We set high operational security standards for our team and organizing partners, providing support to our team to meet these standards. When designing or implementing projects with partners, we incorporate responsible data support.
We practice data minimization by only collecting the data we need, and deleting it afterwards.
When we collect data about people or organizations through any public mediums, we communicate clearly about that collection to allow for informed consent and an opt-in process.
We do not collect data about people, organizations, or activities that we do not have a clear intent to use productively.
Collecting information
Website statistics: We use Google Analytics to collect the date, time and length of your visit, browser identification and IP address for internal use and analysis of website traffic. This information is anonymized and used for statistical analysis only.
Website cookies: We use Squarespace to mange our website. We use the necessary cookies to make the website usable by enabling basic functions like page navigation and access to secure areas of the website.
Email sign-up to our newsletter: When you provide us with your email address to receive newsletter updates at that email address, we use this internally and never share it with others. We will confirm your consent to receive the newsletters regularly, at least every 12 months. We send our newsletter using MailChimp, which tracks links, and stores subscribers email addresses.
Donation information: For donor outreach and reporting purposes, we store your donation history, name, email address, postal address, and other contact information provided to us by the payment processor in our donor database, which is hosted and operated by Donorbox. We use Stripe and PayPal to process donations. We do not receive or store your credit card or bank account information. If you would like to be removed from our donor database, please contact us at team(@)vietnamrise(dot)org.
Other personal information: We don't collect your information without your permission. We don't use your information without your permission.
Sharing information
We never sell or rent your information.
We do not share your information with anyone outside the organization, and to ensure this we avoid the use of third-party services. We will only disclose personal information that we possess (whether about staff, contacts or anyone else) where compelled by law.
Protecting information
Information in transit: Our websites use encrypted protocols to receive any information you share with us and for information that our website sends back to you.
Information at rest: Any information such as website statistics or personally identifiable information that you have willingly shared with us is protected with encryption on our servers.

If you want to obtain a copy of any personal information about you that we have in our systems, please write to team(at)vietnamrise(dot)org.
