About Us

Rise is a young nonprofit organization focused on empowering community organizers and building movements in Vietnam. Our work includes the training of movement actors and community leaders who are advancing environmental and climate justice. We believe that local, decentralized, civic, issue-focused campaigns are key drivers for social change within reach in Vietnam.

Our founders are experienced leaders on strategic human rights campaigning, movement building, and digital security in Vietnam.

Position Summary

We are searching for an experienced Grant Writer to create top-notch materials for foundations and donors. This position will create and execute exceptional content to engage and attract current and new sources of revenue among funders. 

This is a three to six month, deliverables-based contract. The Grant Writer will work directly with the leadership team to create persuasive grant proposals and supplementary materials that maximize funding from foundations in the movement building and human rights field. Other work may include creating and updating content for development materials including direct mail appeal, campaign-specific and project specific solicitation materials.

The ideal candidate is an experienced grant writer who is creative, entrepreneurial, detail-oriented, and flexible.

Qualifications

  • Experience with and strong understanding of grant cycles, particularly with government donors or human rights foundations; 

  • Strong and proven persuasive writing skills;

  • High level of organization, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines;

  • Excellent editing and proofreading skills;

  • Eagerness to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented, and goal-driven environment; 

  • Ability to meet deadlines independently and manage time effectively;

  • Familiarity with online collaboration tools like Google Docs

Location: remote/virtual. Our team is distributed across the US, Europe, and Vietnam.

Compensation: initial 3-6 month at-will contract with opportunity to extend; rate commensurate with experience.
